We are delighted to announce that we have reached our target of raising £10,000 for our chosen charity CLIC Sargent, the national charity that cares for young people with cancer. This was achieved thanks to the support of our staff members who got behind our cause and generously donated their time and money to fundraising activities.
Some of the highlights included inter-store quiz nights and rounders matches and the monumental effort of our Broadway store manager, Damien, and assistant manager, Andrew, who took part in the Great South Run and raised £500.
Of course, we couldn’t have done it without the support of our customers either, and a lot of the money was raised through our Pennies for Plastic scheme, where we donated 1p to the charity every time a customer did not use a plastic bag. Our local suppliers also got behind us by donating produce for charity events such as the Farmhouse Breakfast Week, where we sold hot bacon and sausage rolls to customers, using Simple Suppers’ delicious sausages and bacon.
Next year we hope to raise the same amount for our new chosen charity, the NSPCC, a national charity that works towards preventing child abuse; look out for more charity events at your local store soon...!
