Football fever has really gripped us at Warner’s Budgens, but while most people are gearing up for the World Cup, we’ve been celebrating football stars closer to home.

On a glorious hot and sunny Saturday 22nd May, we held the annual football awards for the local Broadway United Football Club. During the day, team members completed a sponsored walk, raising vital funds for the club. One of the highlights was the presentation of the Warner’s Budgens Clubman Award which went to Christine Parkes. Christine is a keen and active member of the club, having been youth treasurer for five years and a member of the youth committee.

It was a good season for the club with three of the teams gaining some silverware for the trophy cabinet. These were: Under 9s Ambassador league winners; Under 13’s Ambassador league runners up and Worcestershire County Cup winners; Under 15s Cheltenham division one league winners, Cheltenham  league cup winners and Worcestershire county cup runners up.

Next season promises to be even more exciting with the club running teams from Under 8s to Under 16s – this will be the most teams the club has supported since the youth set up was started ten years ago.
